Everyone loves SUVs! They provide so much cabin space in a relatively small form, with all the capacity of a truck but are as small as a sedan, only taller. But when checking out the new 2021 Kia Seltos, I was still surprised at how roomy Kia can make their vehicles and still occupy a small footprint.
Kia seems to know how to design SUVs. Just look at the iconic capable Kia Soul, and the amazing and multi-award-winning Telluride for example. The Kia Telluride actually received yet another award when it was deemed the 2020 ALG Design Innovation Winner. This alone should help you get excited, to see what their new 2021 Seltos has in store, just as I was!
Let’s Start with the Heart, The Engine
Since the 2021 Seltos had just come out, I was curious to see what kind of engines it offers. The Seltos allows you to choose between two 4-cylinder engines: the 2.0L engine and a turbocharged 1.6L engine. Both engines are compatible with either front- or all-wheel drive and honestly you can’t go wrong with either option.
Convenient Features & Available Safety Options
As far as safety features go, I found that the new Seltos offers a suite of available safety features instead of making them standard features, just like their competitors, the Toyota C-HR and Kia Kicks. Personally, I would prefer to get all the available safety options on my vehicle simply for the peace of mind. Helpful available features like blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist give me less to worry about while I’m on the road.
One of the great things I really love about Kia is their warranty, which is deemed the best in the industry and is only matched by its sister company, Hyundai. With this warranty, your vehicle is covered for 10 years or up to 100,000-miles powertrain. This is just another way Kia has given me even more peace of mind.
High-Tech Features
As with all new vehicles, I am always wanting to know what kind of technology and connectivity features it offers. The Seltos comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen but allows you to upgrade to a 10.3-inch option. Both are convenient and user-friendly, but I liked the 10.3-inch touchscreen better since it has a split-screen feature, allowing you to see the map and directions at the same time.
I regularly forget where I park in large parking lots when I go to the store, but that is no longer a problem thanks to the available UVO link service in the 2021 Seltos that can help you locate and give you directions to your vehicle. I find it very convenient that you can also stay connected while you’re on the road with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
As someone who is constantly on her phone and listening to podcasts, available features like the Bose Premium Sound System and wireless charging pad really caught my attention. I would definitely be using these convenient features all the time.
Living in Texas means we have hot summers and cold winters. Thanks to the available remote features, you can warm up or cool down the Seltos before you even step inside! I love getting into a warm, toasty car on a frigid, cold morning!
Spacious Interior
Another great thing I really enjoyed about the 2021 Kia Seltos is the spaciousness! Whether I am just commuting to work, packing for a weekend getaway, or need to haul around equipment for work, the Kia Seltos was able to accommodate me and my cargo.
When checking out the rear seat of the 2021 Seltos, I learned that you can actually recline them! I love a vehicle that considers comfort for all its passengers, not just the driver. The rear seat also provides ample leg-room for the people in the back.
Can’t Go Wrong With The Kia Seltos
This new Kia SUV is family-friendly and affordable and I especially like how front-wheel or all-wheel-drive is available on all four trims of the Seltos: the LX, S, EX, or the SX. Even the base model offers versatility at a value with heated front seats and lane keeping and departure technology. No matter which trim you decide to go with, you’ll find the 2021 Kia Seltos does not disappoint.
